Sunday: Church and quality time with the girls who live in the orphanage.
CMCT has started The Bridge Gospel Church. It is a church that is open to everyone (some churches in the area won't allow people with HIV/AIDS, etc.). Philip who is on staff at CMCT, gave a wonderful sermon on God's grace. We were warmly greeted and sang a worship song for the congregation. The church is growing and many are coming to know the Lord. Everyone prays the church will continue to flourish.
That afternoon, we were given the chance to spend quality time with the 120 girls who live in the CMCT orphanage. Their joy for Jesus was infectious and we had a wonderful time making bracelets and singing songs with them. They sweetly call each of us auntie. Although each girl has a small bunk in a room that sleeps 20, their condition here is night and day compared to their previous home life in the slums.
Teri Gundlach helping a group of hostel girls with the craft: making bracelets with beads and crosses.
Marilee Schneider reading stories to the youngest girls.
All of the joyful girls who live in the hostel.
The beautiful girls showing off their finished bracelets.
It was so wonderful to be able to connect with and spend time with these precious children.

My Dear Friends,
ReplyDeleteMy heart & prayers are with you all. I can see the places, hear the voices, smell the smells, feel the emotions of your situation. God has given you this privilege & "is able to make all grace abound to you,so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work".I pray that God will deeply touch your hearts & minds to understand the preciousness of the worldwide Body of Christ & to experience the empowering of the Holy Spirit as you serve at CMCT. I am praying for your health in body & spirit.
Please give Colleen my love. Much love to you , Gail
As I looked at today's photo of the girl's bracelets, I was reminded of the ones we make for our local Child Evang. Group. They are made with the colors of the Wordless Book and a story leaflet is given along with the bracelets, explaining the plan of salvation. I am continually empressed with how gratefully these small gifts are received in today's society.
ReplyDeleteBut to spend time with the giver must be a real joy to these young people. And this group of "givers" look as if theirs is the greater joy. A bunch worth praying for.
Thanks for the privilege, everybody! - Velda (Mary's crazy in-law)
Dear Ones,
ReplyDeleteIt makes me so happy to think you're with Colleen, the staff and the wonderful girls in the orphanage. Thank you for being available to participate in this wonderful ministry. The church sounds strong, and I'm glad you were able to participate in the service. How cool that you sang for them!
Please give my love to little Sandhya, the girl that I sponsor, and know that you are supported in prayer for this special trip.
Much love,
Karen Alston
